Tier II options for a small facility
A Tier II consultant, or doing it yourself
The short answer
A consultant works out the answers, prepares the filing and usually hands it in for you. One firm that publishes its prices says most projects run $1,000 to $8,500, and $1,500 to $3,000 for a small first filing. Tallymark does the working-out for one site at a fixed yearly price; you sign and hand it in.

Choose a consultant if
- You have many sites, or a complex site with process chemicals.
- You want someone else to hand it in and talk to the agencies.
- Your state also wants site plans or drawings you cannot make yourself.
Choose Tallymark if
- One site, an ordinary list: fuel, oils, gases, cleaners, batteries.
- You can type in what you keep on site, and sign the filing yourself.
- You want to know whether you owe a filing at all before paying anyone.
